Yanga Sports Club’s Media and Communications Manager, Ali Kamwe, has urged Yanga fans and members to show up in large numbers at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium on Wednesday for the Premier League match against their arch-rivals, Simba.
This final match of the season will determine the NBC Premier League champion, with the trophy being awarded after the 90 minutes of play are completed.
Kamwe stated that over 30,000 tickets have already been sold and called on Yanga supporters to purchase the remaining approximately 25,000 tickets.
He also warned fans not to fall for propaganda being spread by Simba fans, claiming the intent is to sabotage Yanga’s match-day revenue.
"There is childish propaganda being spread by our rivals. Just yesterday, they were announcing it was their final match, only to add 'at home' at the end, intending to mislead fans into believing the Kariakoo derby won’t happen."
"But let me just say this — we need those three points more than we need the revenue from the match. Even if only one fan shows up, we will fight to make sure we win," he added.
"So far, 30,000 tickets have been sold, and I urge our members and fans to rush for the remaining 25,000. This is our match," said Kamwe.
After concluding their match against Dodoma Jiji in Zanzibar yesterday, the Yanga squad has continued its preparations on the island and will head to Dar es Salaam on Tuesday in readiness for the match, in which Yanga needs a win to secure their fourth consecutive league title.
