President Mwinyi Awards Yanga TSh 100 Million for 2024/25 Triumphs

The President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Hon. Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, has awarded Yanga Sports Club TSh 100 million in recognition of their significant victories and achievements during the 2024/2025 season.

Dr. Mwinyi made the announcement on June 30, 2025, during a meeting with Yanga officials and players at the State House in Zanzibar, where the club had gone to present the five trophies they won across various competitions this season.

In his remarks, Dr. Mwinyi congratulated the historic club on their major accomplishments, emphasizing that their success contributes to the honor and sporting legacy of the nation.

He also thanked Yanga for continuing to promote Zanzibar locally and internationally through the "Visit Zanzibar" campaign. He noted that the club’s decision to host some of their matches in Zanzibar has contributed to the local economy and tourism sector by increasing the number of visitors and opening up opportunities for residents.

Additionally, Dr. Mwinyi stated that the government will continue to improve sports infrastructure to facilitate the hosting of more tournaments in Zanzibar.

Yanga President and Chairman of African Football Clubs, Engineer Hersi Said Ali, presented Dr. Mwinyi with a special CRDB Cup medal and the NBC Premier League championship jersey. He also expressed his appreciation for the President’s efforts to strengthen sports infrastructure and promised that the club will continue to play matches in the Islands.

This season, Yanga has secured the following titles: the NBC Community Shield, the Toyota Cup, the Union Cup, the NBC Tanzania Premier League title, and the CRDB Federation Cup.
