Azam FC Sign Taifa Stars Defender Lameck Lawi Ahead of Simba and Yanga

Azam FC have completed the signing of Coastal Union and Tanzania national team (Taifa Stars) defender Lameck Lawi, it has been confirmed.

Lawi joins Azam FC as a free agent after his contract with Coastal Union came to an end.

Azam beat rivals Simba SC and Yanga SC to the signing of the 20-year-old defender.

Last season, Simba were involved in a dispute with Coastal Union over Lawi's transfer, but football authorities later ruled in favor of Coastal Union after Simba were found to have breached the transfer agreement.

According to inside sources at Azam, the club signed Lawi to strengthen the squad with a local option, and he will now compete for a starting spot with foreign defenders Yeison Fuentes from Colombia and Yoro Diaby.

Azam currently have another local player in that position, Abdallah Kheri, who was on loan at Pamba FC. The management will assess his performance to determine if he can also contribute to the team's strength in the coming season.
