Simba SC is in the final stages of completing a contract extension deal with long-time captain and left-back Mohammed Hussein ‘Zimbwe Jr’, who has been a key pillar in the Msimbazi Reds squad for several seasons.
According to reports from within the Simba leadership, an agreement between the player and the club has already been reached, with only the official signing of the new contract remaining.
It is reported that Zimbwe Jr requested to sign a new contract after the end of the 2024/25 season, a request that the Simba management has approved.
Zimbwe Jr, who is one of the senior and most respected players in the squad, is expected to continue serving the club under a new two-year contract.
"The agreement is in place, Zimbwe expressed his desire to stay and we value his contribution to the team," a source within Simba revealed.
Following the conclusion of the season, Simba SC has officially begun the process of restructuring its squad, with the first step being to ensure that players recommended by the technical bench to stay are given new contracts before the new transfer window begins.
This exercise is part of Simba’s broader plan to return to top form, after a season in which the club missed out on all domestic titles and also failed to secure the CAF Confederation Cup.
