Simba SC Plots Major Squad Overhaul Following Coach’s Technical Report

Recently, the Board of Directors of Simba SC concluded its meeting in Dar es Salaam, where one of the main agenda items discussed was the technical report submitted by head coach Fadlu Davids.

The report aims to provide direction for essential squad improvements to ensure that Simba returns next season with greater strength to compete for various titles.

In the report, coach Fadlu Davids clearly outlined what needs to be done in terms of player signings to address the weaknesses that affected the team’s performance in the past season. He proposed signing six foreign players to strengthen key areas within the squad.

Among the major recommendations made by the coach are:

  • Strengthening the position currently held by Jean Charles Ahoua by bringing in another player capable of handling the number 10 role, with the ability to score goals and provide decisive assists to teammates.

  • Adding a central defender with strong tackling ability and game intelligence, which is crucial for solidifying the defensive line.

  • Reinforcing the defensive midfield position with a player of higher quality than Yusuph Kagoma to improve control of the game in the midfield area.

  • Bringing in a winger with greater ability than Joshua Mutale to increase pace and competition on the flanks.

  • Signing one or two strikers with a proven scoring record, who show higher quality than current forwards Leonel Ateba and Steven Mukwala.

Additionally, the Chairman of the Board of Directors, billionaire Mohammed Dewji 'Mo', has taken the lead in establishing an advisory board for recruitment matters. This board includes former Simba SC leaders and players who once contributed significantly to the club’s success.

The goal is to ensure a broader scope for evaluating potential signings before contracts are finalized, thereby facilitating meaningful and beneficial transfers for the team.

Former officials such as Geofrey Nyange 'Kaburu', Hassan Dalali, Ismail Aden Rage, and Evance Aveva—who were known for making quality signings despite limited resources—have been re-engaged in this recruitment process.

One board member stated,

“They were not involved in last season’s recruitment, but they are participating in the upcoming one. They attended the meeting and advised our chairman on what needs to be done to build a strong and formidable squad.”
