While speaking to the media yesterday, Yanga's Head of Information and Communications, Ali Kamwe, gave a "code" hint about the coach whom Yanga has hired to lead the historic champions in the upcoming season.
Kamwe hinted that the coach is young and highly ambitious. He is a coach who aligns with Yanga's vision and ambition to pursue continental glory, particularly the African Champions League title.
Kamwe stated that the coach will be officially unveiled at the end of this month before the team begins preparations for the new season.
Following Kamwe’s remarks, speculation has linked Romain Folz, a 35-year-old born in Bordeaux, France, as the possible candidate.
Despite his young age, Romain is a coach with vast experience in international competitions, having served in various roles including head coach, assistant coach, and technical director at different clubs.
In 2024, Folz served as an assistant coach at Mamelodi Sundowns before moving to Algeria where he became the Sporting Director of Olympique Akbou.
Folz has also previously worked as head coach of Horoya AC (Guinea), Amazulu FC (South Africa), and Township Rollers (Botswana). He was also an assistant coach at Pyramids FC (Egypt) and for the Uganda national team.
He holds the top UEFA Pro coaching license and also has a CONMEBOL Pro License.
Looking at his age and impressive resume, Folz is a coach who has deeply invested in football coaching, completing his training at a young age.
He would be another young coach getting an opportunity at Yanga following the likes of Cedric Kaze and Sead Ramovic, both of whom were relatively unknown when they joined the club.
Kaze is currently working alongside Nasreddine Nabi at Kaizer Chiefs, while Ramovic’s brief time at Yanga was enough to land him a top role at CR Belouizdad.
