The Tanzania national football team, Taifa Stars, has become the first team to reach the quarter-finals of the 2024 CHAN tournament after defeating Madagascar 2-1 in a match played at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.
Early first-half goals from Clement Mzize were enough to secure Stars their third consecutive win, bringing their tally to 9 points.
He scored the first goal in the 13th minute, finishing off a rebound after a shot from Mudathir Yahya hit the post.
Mzize netted the second goal in the 20th minute, converting a corner kick delivered by Feisal Salum 'Fei Toto'.
Tanzania has guaranteed a place in the quarter-finals as Group B leaders with 9 points, with one match remaining against the Central African Republic to complete the group stage fixtures.
