Yanga and SportPesa Sign TSh 21.7 Billion Sponsorship Renewal

Sports betting company SportPesa has today signed a new three-year sponsorship deal to continue supporting Young Africans SC.

The contract, worth TSh 21.7 billion, was signed this Monday evening at Serena Hotel.

Speaking at the event, SportPesa Board Chairman Hon. Tarimba Abbas revealed that Yanga will earn approximately TSh 7.2 billion each year, with an additional unprecedented bonus if they win the CAF Champions League.

“SportPesa’s vision was always to get involved in football. We have previously sponsored Arsenal, Hull City, Everton, and several clubs in the Kenyan Premier League. When we looked at Tanzania, we identified Yanga as the right club to realize our dreams. Yanga has a massive fan base, and we trusted the club’s leadership to help transform Tanzanian football,” said Tarimba.

“After joining Yanga, we strengthened their financial position, giving them the power to sign players from any club. This has enabled Yanga to sell any player because they can replace them with top talent. Today, we have signed a new three-year deal worth TSh 21.7 billion, designed to help Yanga chase the dream of becoming African champions. Beyond sponsorship, we have introduced a big bonus for international matches.”

Guest of honour and Deputy Minister for Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, Hon. Hamis Mwinjuma, congratulated both SportPesa and Yanga for maintaining an eight-year partnership that has been mutually beneficial.

“I commend Yanga and SportPesa for sustaining their partnership for eight years. The great success both sides have enjoyed stems from this fruitful cooperation. The government continues to create a friendly environment for investors committed to supporting football,” he said.

Yanga President Engineer Hersi Said also praised SportPesa for continuing their relationship with the club, noting the major economic transformation it has brought.

“Before SportPesa came in, Yanga was struggling. Despite its size and history, the club could not attract top players or even travel without difficulties. Today, Yanga competes for the best players alongside Africa’s top clubs. This huge success is thanks to SportPesa’s strong support, and we truly appreciate how they have stood by us,” said Hersi.
