Simba Parts Ways with Striker Lionel Ateba

It has been confirmed that Simba SC has reached an agreement to part ways with striker Lionel Ateba.

Ateba, who joined Simba last season from USM Alger, leaves Msimbazi after just one season in which he scored 13 league goals for the Reds.

Following the signing of versatile midfielder Naby Camara, Simba was forced to release one foreign player.

It was only a matter of time before that decision was made, especially after Simba signed Jonathan Sowah from Singida BS, bringing the tally of foreign strikers to three.

With Ateba’s departure, the remaining foreign players in Simba’s squad are Moussa Camara, Rushine De Reuck, Chamou Carabou, Alassane Kante, Mohamed Bajaber, and Neo Maema.

Others include Joshua Mutale, Jonathan Sowah, Jean Charles Ahoua, Elie Mpanzu, Steven Mukwala, and Naby Camara.

The registration window for the CAF Champions League officially closed in the early hours of August 16.
