Singida Black Stars wrote history by clinching their first-ever CECAFA Kagame Cup title in 2025, after defeating Sudan’s Al Hilal Omdurman 2-1 in the final played at the KMC Complex Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Sunday, September 15, 2025.
The early minutes witnessed a fast-paced and fiercely contested game, with both teams showing great desire to claim the trophy. Fans were treated to action in the 20th minute when Clatous Chama opened the scoring for Singida with a fine strike that beat Al Hilal’s goalkeeper.
The joy was short-lived, however, as Abdelrazig Taha equalized for Al Hilal in the 31st minute with a powerful shot that found the back of the net, making it 1-1.
After the break, Singida returned with a clear strategy to chase victory. In the 57th minute, it was Chama again who rose to the occasion, scoring his second goal with great skill and sparking wild celebrations among Singida’s fans.
That decisive goal sealed the fate of the match, despite Al Hilal’s relentless efforts to find an equalizer until the final whistle.
Stars and Awards
Clatous Chama stole the show in this final with his two crucial goals. The attacking midfielder walked away with the Man of the Match award and was also crowned the tournament’s Top Scorer with a total of three goals.
Singida goalkeeper Metacha Mnata was another standout, producing several crucial saves. His heroics earned him the Best Goalkeeper of the Tournament award.
For the technical bench, it was a memorable final for head coach Miguel Gamondi, who secured his first trophy with Singida Black Stars—a milestone that further cements his reputation within the squad and among football fans in Tanzania.
