The 1–0 victory Azam FC recorded yesterday against Nairobi United has revived the Ice Cream Makers’ hopes of securing a place in the quarter-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup (CAFCC).
An early goal scored by Feisal Salum “Fei Toto” proved decisive, lasting the full 90 minutes and seeing Azam FC complete a home-and-away double over Nairobi United. The result takes Azam FC to six points in Group B, while Nairobi United’s hopes have now faded.
In an earlier match, Otoho d’Oyo of the Republic of Congo claimed a 2–1 victory over Tanzania’s Singida Black Stars. The match saw Singida goalkeeper Metacha Mnata sent off with a red card.
The red card incident is being cited as one of the key factors that contributed to the outcome of the match, as Singida were forced to battle under difficult circumstances for more than 60 minutes.
Singida Black Stars currently sit third in Group D with four points and remain in the race to qualify for the quarter-finals.
