Azam FC will today, Saturday, February 7, 2026, take on Maniema Union from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in the fifth-round Group B match of the CAF Confederation Cup. The fixture will be played at the New Amaan Complex Stadium in Zanzibar.
The match is crucial for Azam in their bid to secure a quarter-final spot in the competition.
According to the current group standings before today’s game, Wydad lead with nine points, equal to Maniema Union after four matches, while Azam FC sit third with six points. The group race remains open, making today’s result highly significant in determining which teams will advance from the group stage.
In the first meeting between the two sides played away, Azam suffered a 2–0 defeat, a result that adds pressure on the Tanzanian representatives to secure a home win and revive their hopes of qualification.
Azam need a victory to reach nine points and move closer to the top of the group, while also waiting on the outcome of the other group fixture. A draw or a loss would make the path to the final round even more difficult for the team.
For Maniema Union, a win today would give them 12 points and put them in a strong position to secure early qualification to the quarter-finals. Even a draw would be a positive result for them.
Other Tanzanian representatives in the competition, Singida Black Stars, will take to the field tomorrow, Sunday, to face CR Belouizdad at the New Amaan Complex Stadium.
