The fever is rising ahead of the traditional rivals clash in the NBC Premier League between Yanga and Simba, with only about four days remaining until the match in Zanzibar.
The 54th encounter will be played at the New Amaan Complex on Sunday, March 1, at 3 PM.
Yanga departed early today from Dar es Salaam to Zanzibar to complete their preparations, while their rivals Simba are expected to return to Dar es Salaam today from Dodoma, where they were held to a goalless draw against Dodoma Jiji in yesterday’s NBC Premier League match.
Simba head coach Steve Barker stated that his squad will travel to Zanzibar early to ensure enough time for final preparations ahead of the clash.
Simba may face more pressure than Yanga following the draw they recorded yesterday.
Yanga currently leads the league standings with 28 points after 10 matches, while Simba sits third with 23 points from the same number of games.
Yanga already has a 5-point advantage over Simba, so if they lose the match on Sunday, they would fall eight points behind Yanga, putting themselves in a difficult position in the title race.
However, Yanga has also won their last four consecutive league matches, and the fans will be looking for another record-setting performance to assert dominance over their rivals.
