Simba officials have reportedly started early efforts to sign ASEC Mimosas striker Souleymane Fofana.
Fofana has been in impressive form this season, scoring 11 goals and providing five assists in just 17 matches for ASEC.
Simba are targeting the forward, who can also play as a number 10, as a possible replacement for Jonathan Sowah, whose chances of staying at the Msimbazi club appear slim.
ASEC Mimosas are known for producing talented players, some of whom have previously played in Tanzania, including Aubin Kramo and Zana Koulibaly, both former Simba players.
The club’s president, Roger Ouegnin, has stated that they would be open to doing business with Simba or any other club interested in the striker, who has attracted attention this season.
“So far we have not received any offer from Simba. Fofana is still our player and continues to serve his contract. We are all happy with his performance,” Ouegnin was quoted as saying by Mwanaspoti.
“At ASEC we have no problem doing business with players. If we reach an agreement, anything is possible. However, Fofana currently has many offers from across Africa and even Europe. For us, we will consider whichever offer meets our expectations before allowing the player to leave.”
