Simba claimed an important 2β1 away victory over Singida Black Stars at Airtel Stadium in Singida in an exciting NBC Premier League encounter.
It was a tough and competitive match, but Simba used their experience to secure a crucial win on the road.
The visitors started brightly and opened the scoring in the 7th minute when Anicet Oura netted his first league goal for Simba. The winger capitalized on hesitation from Singida defenders who failed to clear the danger inside their penalty area.
Singida Black Stars responded just before halftime. Mossi equalized with a well-placed header after connecting with a cross from Lamine Jarjou, bringing the hosts back into the game.
In the second half, Singida appeared more dangerous, launching several counterattacks. In two separate incidents, their players Khalid Aucho and Joseph Guede seemed to be fouled inside the penalty area, but the referee waved play on, refusing to award a penalty.
The decisive moment came late in the match when Elie Mpanzu, coming off the bench, scored the winning goal in the 85th minute. He finished a cross from Clatous Chama after beating the Singida defenders, who appeared to assume he was offside.
The victory gives Simba three valuable points, moving them up to third place in the league standings with 27 points.
Earlier in the day, TRA United secured a 2β0 victory over Namungo FC in a match played at Black Rhino Stadium in Manyara.
