Late Equalizer Denies Yanga Victory as Winless Run Continues

A stoppage-time goal scored by Mtibwa Sugar from a corner taken by Ismail Mhesa denied Yanga a crucial three points in their Premier League match played at Jamhuri Stadium in Dodoma.

Yanga players protested to the referee for allowing the goal, arguing that goalkeeper Djigui Diarra appeared to have been pushed while attempting to deal with the corner.

Yanga had taken the lead earlier in the first half through Pacome Zouzoua, who finished off an assist from Emmanuel Mwanengo.

However, Yanga players will have themselves to blame for failing to secure all three points, as they created numerous chances but struggled with finishing.

This marks Yanga’s third consecutive draw, possibly their toughest run in recent league seasons.

Last season, Yanga lost two consecutive matches, but this time they have recorded three straight draws, showing a slow start to the second round of the league.

Yanga remain at the top of the league standings with 38 points, and mathematically they will stay there even if other teams win their pending matches.

This was Yanga’s seventh match played within a span of 21 days.
