Yanga Confident Despite Djigui Diarra Suspension

Yanga’s Head of Information and Communications, Ali Kamwe, has stated that the suspension of their first-choice goalkeeper Djigui Diarra will not affect the team, as they have two other quality goalkeepers available.

Diarra was recently handed a three-match suspension by the Premier League Board’s Competition Committee following misconduct during a league match against Mtibwa Sugar.

In addition to the suspension, Diarra was also fined a total of TSh 4 million.

Kamwe explained that Yanga still has strong options in goal, including Aboutwalib Mshery, also known as ‘Djigui Mshery’, and Hussein Masalanga, both of whom are ready to step in and protect the champions’ goal.

“We have received the news of our number one goalkeeper Djigui Diarra being suspended for three matches, but I want to assure our fans and members that we have other capable goalkeepers who will keep Yanga’s goal safe,” said Kamwe.

“We have Aboutwalib Mshery, who whenever he gets the chance in Diarra’s absence, he delivers clean sheets. He has done so in the league and even in the Mapinduzi Cup.”

“We also have Hussein Masalanga, famously known as the ‘AFCON goalkeeper’, who is ready if the technical bench gives him the responsibility while Diarra is unavailable,” he added.

Kamwe confirmed that Yanga will enter camp on Monday, March 30, to prepare for their NBC Premier League match against Tanzania Prisons on April 4 at the KMC Complex.

Regarding injuries, Kamwe noted that Prince Dube, Ibrahim Bacca, Edmund John, and Chadrack Boka have resumed light training, while striker Laurindo Aurelio ‘Depu’ remains under medical observation.
