Al Hilal Omdurman have submitted an official appeal to the Confederation of African Football (CAF), challenging the result of their CAF Champions League quarter-final match against RS Berkane, alleging that their opponents fielded an ineligible player.
According to the reports, Al Hilal are contesting the participation of Berkane defender Hamza El Moussaoui, claiming he was serving a 30-day suspension following allegations of doping.
Legal documents indicate that CAF has already opened a disciplinary case, referenced as DC23330, against the player. A urine sample (Sample A) collected on January 24, 2026, reportedly revealed the presence of Prednisone/Prednisolone substances.
According to the World Anti-Doping Agency, these substances fall under category S9 (Glucocorticoids) on the 2026 list of prohibited substances in sports.
It is further reported that an initial disciplinary decision regarding the matter was issued by CAF on March 11 this year, raising questions about the player’s eligibility to feature in the quarter-final match.
Although RS Berkane have attempted to downplay the allegations, describing them as unfounded, available documents suggest the case is currently under formal legal review within CAF.
If the appeal by Al Hilal Omdurman is upheld, disciplinary measures could be taken against Berkane, including forfeiture of the match or awarding a technical victory to Al Hilal.
However, the Confederation of African Football has yet to issue a final ruling, with the case still under review.
