Yanga assistant coach Mathew Silva has said preparations for the Premier League match against Tanzania Prisons have gone well, and the team’s expectation is to win the game, which will be played tomorrow, Saturday, April 4, at the KMC Complex.
Speaking at a press conference earlier today, Mathew said the team has had time to prepare while players regain full fitness after a challenging period of consecutive matches.
Mathew noted that they are ready to face a tough match against Tanzania Prisons, who have shown improvement in every game.
"We have used the FIFA calendar break effectively to strengthen ourselves, and now we feel ready for the upcoming match against Tanzania Prisons."
"On Saturday, we will face a strong opponent. Looking at the last four matches, although Tanzania Prisons haven’t won any games, they have shown progress," Mathew said.
He also thanked Yanga fans for their continued support in all circumstances and urged them to turn out in large numbers for the match, which kicks off at 6:00 PM.
"I hope to see fans coming in large numbers to the stadium. It’s not just about numbers; they should cheer to give the team motivation. Fans are a crucial pillar for any team seeking results. Let’s not withhold appreciation, as Yanga fans have stood with us shoulder to shoulder whenever we needed. We know our home fans are eager to see us play," he said.
Tanzania Prisons head coach Chadrack Nsajigwa also said they are well-prepared for the match against Yanga, which they expect will not be easy.
Nsajigwa urged the team’s supporters to continue backing them in their fight to avoid relegation.
"We have a tough match ahead. Our current position is not ideal for a team like Tanzania Prisons, so we are working hard to improve our situation."
"We ask our fans to keep supporting us in everything we do, to encourage both the players and the management so the team can achieve its goals, because we have been struggling for a long time."
"If we can maintain the morale we showed in the last two matches, together with our fans’ support, I believe we can turn things around," said Nsajigwa, who is a former captain of both Yanga and the Tanzania national team 'Taifa Stars'.
