Defending champions Yanga strengthened their position at the top of the Tanzania Mainland Premier League standings after securing a 3-0 victory over Tanzania Prisons at the KMC Complex.
The win takes Yanga to 41 points and marks an important turnaround after going 270 minutes without a victory.
Yanga started the match strongly and dominated much of the first half, but Tanzania Prisons’ defense remained solid and managed to withstand the pressure, sending the game into halftime goalless at 0-0.
The second half began with tactical adjustments from Yanga, who shifted to a more wing-based attacking approach, which quickly paid off.
In the 50th minute, attacking midfielder Allan Okello gave Yanga the lead with a well-taken finish from a cross by Israel Mwenda.
The goal opened up the game, forcing Tanzania Prisons to push forward in search of an equalizer, but this left gaps in their defense.
In the 68th minute, Mudathir Yahya doubled the lead, finishing a precise pass from Okello and increasing the pressure on the visitors.
Yanga continued to dominate and sealed the victory in the 86th minute through Pacome Zouzoua, who rounded the Prisons goalkeeper Moussa Mbissa after receiving a through pass from Duke Abuya.
Earlier, Zouzoua had a goal ruled out for offside, but he remained determined and eventually found the net with a legitimate goal to cap off the win.
With this result, Yanga continue to show strong intent to defend their league title, while Tanzania Prisons remain in a difficult position in the standings.
The victory also boosts morale for Yanga as they prepare for upcoming league fixtures.
