Many football fans believe France are among the favorites to win the tournament, especially after reaching the 2022 FIFA World Cup final in Qatar. Once again, much attention will be focused on captain Kylian Mbappé, who leads a dangerous attacking line alongside Ousmane Dembélé and Michael Olise.

France Drawn in Group I

France have been placed in Group I alongside:

  • Senegal
  • Iraq
  • Norway

Their opening match will be against Senegal on June 16, 2026, in the United States.

Can France Win the World Cup?

With this squad, France have every reason to believe they can challenge for the title once again. They possess an attack filled with pace and creativity, an experienced midfield led by Kanté and Tchouaméni, and a strong defense featuring players like Saliba and Konaté.

However, pressure will also be high on Didier Deschamps, who has already announced that he will step down after the 2026 World Cup. This could be his final tournament as coach of Les Bleus, and he will undoubtedly hope to leave by lifting another world title.
