TPLB Hands Fines and Suspensions Following Recent NBC Premier League Matches

The Tanzania Premier League Board (TPLB) Competition and Management Committee, during its meeting held on June 16, 2026, reviewed several incidents from recent NBC Premier League matches and issued a number of disciplinary decisions.

NBC Premier League

Match No. 203: Mbeya City FC 1-0 Mtibwa Sugar

Mtibwa Sugar have been fined TSh 5 million after some players and members of the technical bench were seen engaging in actions interpreted as promoting superstitious beliefs before the match.

According to the committee, the individuals gathered in a circle at the center of the pitch as if offering prayers, while one official was seen digging into the ground.

The punishment was imposed under Article 47:1 of the NBC Premier League regulations concerning club conduct.

Meanwhile, center referee Liston Hiari of Dar es Salaam has been suspended for five league rounds after being found to have displayed officiating shortcomings resulting from an incorrect interpretation of the Laws of the Game.

The sanction was issued under Article 42:1(1.8) of the league regulations governing referees.

Match No. 205: Mashujaa FC 0-2 Young Africans SC

A Young Africans supporter identified as Said Selemani Ally has been banned from entering football stadiums for 12 months.

The supporter was found guilty of entering the field of play a day before the match, after Yanga had completed their final training session, and pouring liquid substances and soil from the southern goal area toward the center of the pitch in what was interpreted as an act linked to superstitious practices.

The punishment was imposed under Article 47:2 of the league regulations concerning club control and discipline.

Match No. 205: Simba SC 2-1 Pamba Jiji FC

Center referee Hance Mabena of Tanga and assistant referee Frank Komba have both been suspended for five league rounds after being found guilty of officiating errors stemming from a failure to properly interpret the Laws of the Game.

The sanctions were imposed under Article 42:1(1.8) of the league regulations governing referees.

Simba SC have been fined TSh 10 million after their supporters threw water at assistant referee Frank Komba while protesting one of his decisions to flag a Simba player offside.

The committee noted that this was a repeat offense by Simba supporters during the 2025/26 season, with similar incidents having occurred in three separate matches that previously resulted in disciplinary action against the club.

The punishment was imposed under Article 47:1 of the league regulations concerning club conduct.

Pamba Jiji FC have also been fined TSh 500,000 after six of their players received yellow cards during the match.

The sanction was imposed under Article 47:10 of the league regulations regarding club discipline.
