The Uganda Women's Under-17 National Team (U-17) has made history after winning the 2026 CECAFA U-17 Women’s Championship, an achievement that highlights the remarkable progress of women’s football in Uganda and across the East and Central African region.
Uganda demonstrated a high level of competitiveness throughout the tournament, defeating its opponents through disciplined play, technical ability, and impressive consistency in various matches. This success has established the team as one of the rising forces in youth women’s football in Africa.
On their journey to the championship, the young Ugandan players displayed outstanding performances in all areas of the game, from defense and midfield to attack. Teamwork among the players, combined with excellent preparation by the coaching staff, was among the key factors that contributed to this major achievement.
The title is also a result of the continued investment made by the Uganda Football Federation in developing women’s football talent from grassroots levels.
