TPLB Fines Yanga SC Sh100 Million and Refers Club Leaders to Ethics Committee Over Dressing Room Breach

Young Africans SC have been fined Sh100 million by the Tanzania Premier League Board (TPLB) following their failure to use the official dressing room during their NBC Premier League match against JKT Tanzania at Major General Isamuhyo Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

According to TPLB, Yanga players and technical staff instead used a house located outside the stadium, in violation of Competition Rule 17:20 on match-day procedures.

In addition to the fine, the League’s Competitions and Administration Committee has referred Yanga SC President Hersi Said and Chief Executive Officer Andre Mtine to the TFF Ethics Committee for providing what the board described as baseless explanations regarding the incident.

This marks the second time in a short period that Yanga have been punished for a similar offense. In May 2026, the club was also fined Sh30 million for violating the same regulation involving the use of non-designated dressing facilities.

OFFICIAL STATEMENT

The TPLB Competitions and Administration Committee, in its meeting held on July 2, 2026, reviewed various incidents from the league and made the following decisions:

The sanction has been issued under Rule 27:7 of the league’s disciplinary framework.
