Yanga President Hersi Says Club Stadium Project Set to Begin Soon at Jangwani

Yanga SC President Engineer Hersi Said has reiterated his strong commitment to the implementation of the club’s major stadium construction project, saying preparations are in the final stages and construction will begin soon.

Hersi said one of the key remaining promises under his leadership is to ensure that the modern Yanga stadium at Twiga and Jangwani in Dar es Salaam is officially launched and completed on time.

He made the remarks on July 4, 2026, during celebrations marking Yanga’s fifth consecutive Tanzania Mainland Premier League title, held at the club’s headquarters in Jangwani, Dar es Salaam.

Speaking before hundreds of members and supporters, Hersi said the leadership is fully committed to realizing the stadium dream, emphasizing that the implementation process has reached a crucial final stage.

“Next season’s victory parade will be held somewhere else, not here at Jangwani, because by then construction of the stadium will already be underway,” Hersi said.

He explained that the final step involves completing the process of converting the land ownership structure granted by the government from a members’ ownership model into a special-purpose company that will manage the implementation of the major infrastructure project.

According to Hersi, this transition will strengthen the club’s investment management system and ensure the stadium project is executed efficiently and to modern standards aimed at elevating Yanga’s status both locally and internationally.

He also acknowledged that the previous season presented some challenges in the playing squad, with several signings failing to deliver the expected impact.

However, he stressed that the club will make significant improvements in the current transfer window to ensure Yanga returns stronger and continues to dominate Tanzanian football while competing effectively on the continental stage.

Meanwhile, club sponsor GSM Group continued to motivate fans, reaffirming confidence in the team’s success by saying, “Yanga champions, again next year…” during a phone call addressed to supporters at the jubilant celebrations in Jangwani.

The stadium project remains one of the most anticipated developments among Yanga members and supporters, expected to transform the landscape of football infrastructure in Tanzania once fully implemented.
