The football community has received with deep sadness the news of the passing of former Yanga SC goalkeeper Clause Kindoki, who died yesterday, July 11, 2026, following a tragic motorcycle taxi (bodaboda) accident in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DR Congo).
According to Nestor Mutual, the former manager of striker Fiston Mayele, Kindoki was involved in the accident just a few hours after his team, Bustras, secured a 2-1 victory over Et Dauphin. Reports indicate that instead of traveling back with the team on the bus after the match, he chose to ride a motorcycle taxi, which was involved in a collision with a cargo truck.
Kindoki previously played for Yanga SC during the 2018/19 season under head coach Mwinyi Zahera. He joined the club alongside striker Heritier Makambo. Although his time with the club was relatively brief, he remains part of Yanga SC's history.
After retiring from professional football, Kindoki continued serving the sport as Bustras' goalkeeping coach, dedicating himself to developing and nurturing young goalkeeping talent in DR Congo.
His passing has left family, friends, former teammates, and football fans in both Tanzania and DR Congo in mourning. Many remember him for his dedication and commitment both on and off the pitch.
