Simba SC's hopes of signing Nigeria international goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali have officially come to an end after the shot-stopper returned to Chippa United. The Tanzanian giants had been pursuing Nwabali since his contract with Chippa United expired seven months ago, but their efforts to secure his signature were ultimately unsuccessful.
On Sunday, July 12, 2026, Chippa United officially announced Nwabali's return and welcomed him back to the club. Chippa FC is delighted to welcome Stanley Nwabali back. After spending some time away, Nwabali returns to the Eastern Cape, and we are thrilled to have him back, the club said in a statement.
Nwabali is regarded as one of Africa's top goalkeepers in recent years, thanks to his impressive performances for the Nigeria national team and in major international competitions.
With his return to Chippa United now confirmed, Simba SC will have to turn their attention to alternative goalkeeping targets as they continue strengthening their squad ahead of the new season.
