Singida Black Stars have continued strengthening their attacking department after completing the signing of young striker Candidat Mapendo from AS Dauphin Noir of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo).
Mapendo, aged 19, has become one of the most talked-about young forwards in Congolese football after an impressive season in the DR Congo Premier League (Linafoot), where he finished as the top scorer with 22 goals.
The striker played a leading role for AS Dauphin Noir last season, becoming a key figure in the team’s attack. His ability to score important goals at crucial moments attracted attention from several clubs both within and outside DR Congo.
Due to his outstanding performances, some Congolese media outlets have described Mapendo as one of the country’s most promising young strikers in the new generation of football talent.
Beyond winning the top scorer award, Mapendo has made history by producing impressive statistics at such a young age. His goal-scoring ability has led to comparisons with some of the biggest names to have emerged from Congolese football, including former star Trésor Mputu.
