Singida Black Stars have continued strengthening their squad ahead of the new season by re-signing Nigeria international centre-back Benjamin Tanimu on a two-year contract.
The 23-year-old returns to Singida Black Stars from Moroccan club Maghreb Fès, where he played after leaving Tanzania. Reports indicate that he has signed a two-year deal with the club, although the transfer fee has not been disclosed.
Tanimu is expected to join the squad during the club's pre-season training camp in Rwanda.
The defender is already familiar with Tanzanian football. Before moving to Maghreb Fès, he played for Ihefu FC and later Singida Black Stars, where his impressive performances earned him the opportunity to continue his career abroad.
Prior to his move overseas, Tanimu featured for Bendel Insurance in Nigeria, establishing himself as one of the standout defenders in the Nigeria Premier Football League. His performances also earned him a call-up to the Super Eagles, Nigeria's national team.
In addition to his spell in Morocco, Tanimu was previously linked with a move to English club Crawley Town, highlighting the growing interest in his abilities from clubs abroad.
His return to Singida Black Stars is seen as part of the club's strategy to build a competitive squad capable of challenging in the Tanzanian Premier League and other competitions during the 2026/27 season.
