Egyptian giants Zamalek SC have made significant progress toward having their FIFA transfer ban lifted after reducing the number of outstanding financial cases against the club from 18 to just five. The breakthrough follows the settlement of several disputes involving former players, coaches, and other clubs.
The club had initially been dealing with more than 17 cases, requiring payments exceeding US$6.17 million to clear the sanctions imposed by FIFA. However, Zamalek's management has steadily resolved the disputes, leaving only five cases before the club can regain full transfer privileges.
Should Zamalek successfully settle the remaining cases, FIFA is expected to officially lift the transfer ban, allowing the club to register new players ahead of the 2026/27 season. The development would also strengthen the club's preparations for both domestic competitions and CAF tournaments, with supporters hopeful of seeing Zamalek return to competing at the highest level.
