Whenever the transfer window opens, the battle for signings between Simba SC and Yanga SC becomes part of the excitement for football fans in Tanzania. This time, Simba have landed a major blow by securing the services of talented attacking midfielder Keletso Makgalwa and officially unveiling him as their new player.
Simba completed Makgalwa's signing from South African club Sekhukhune United in what is considered one of the club's biggest deals of the current transfer window. His arrival has raised expectations among Msimbazi supporters who hope to see their team achieve greater success next season.
Makgalwa, who can operate as a left winger or a number 10 attacking midfielder, joins Simba with an impressive record in South Africa's top flight, the Betway Premiership. During his two seasons with Sekhukhune United, he demonstrated his quality by scoring four goals and providing 11 assists.
In the 2025/26 season alone, Keletso produced an even more impressive performance, registering seven assists and proving himself as a player capable of creating chances and influencing match outcomes.
The signing has intensified competition in Tanzanian football, especially after reports that Yanga were among the clubs monitoring his situation and had started discussions with the player before Simba stepped in to complete the deal.
Makgalwa's arrival also carries the influence of head coach Steve Barker, who knows the player well after previously working with him in South Africa. The coach believes Makgalwa's technical ability can add creativity and more attacking quality to Simba's squad.
Before joining Sekhukhune United, Makgalwa was part of the Mamelodi Sundowns setup, where he gained experience competing in domestic competitions and CAF continental tournaments. He also spent loan spells at clubs including Maritzburg United, Moroka Swallows, and TS Galaxy.
