The opening Group B match of the CECAFA Kagame Cup between Simba SC and Mogadishu City FC ended in a goalless draw, with both teams sharing a point in a highly competitive encounter.
Simba, under head coach Steve Barker, started the match with a squad featuring several new signings from the current transfer window. The Msimbazi Reds dominated much of the game but were frustrated by a strong Mogadishu City defensive wall that remained deep for long periods to prevent any goals.
In the final 15 minutes, Simba increased their attacking pressure after Barker introduced Clatous Chama, Shomari Kapombe, Anicet Oura, Keletso Makgalwa, Ibrahim Doumbia, and Jabeer to add more firepower in the final third.
Doumbia came close to scoring the winning goal in the closing stages, while Makgalwa also created another clear opportunity. However, Mogadishu City's defense remained solid and successfully dealt with every threat near their goal.
Following today's results, Jamus FC lead Group B with three points after defeating Singida Black Stars 2-0 in the earlier fixture. Simba SC and Mogadishu City follow with one point each.
Simba will return to action on Tuesday, July 28, when they face Jamus FC in a match expected to bring significant pressure as the Msimbazi Reds fight for qualification to the next stage.
