Comments made by former Mashujaa FC and Tanzania national team coach Jamhuri Kihwelo, popularly known as "Julio," have sparked widespread debate and divided football fans across the country.
The discussion gained momentum after video clips circulated on social media showing Julio passionately criticizing Simba's recent struggles, internal leadership conflicts, and what he described as the club's "humiliation" in comparison to their traditional rivals, Yanga SC.
"Simba Must Win the Title by Any Means"
In one of his most controversial statements, Julio said Simba must win next season's Tanzanian Premier League title "by any means necessary," arguing that allowing Yanga to retain the championship again would be a major embarrassment for the club.
"If Simba want to become champions next season, they have to do it by any means necessary. If Yanga win the title again, it will be a huge humiliation for us," Julio said in the video.
Claims of Leadership Divisions
Julio also spoke about what he believes are deep divisions within Simba's leadership, claiming there is a lack of unity between current and former club officials, which has negatively affected the team's operations.
He specifically mentioned former Simba Board Chairman Salim Abdallah, popularly known as "Try Again," alleging that club leaders are not working together for the benefit of the club.
Pointing to rivals Yanga as an example, Julio argued that their success is largely built on unity.
"Even if Yanga have a weaker squad, when they stand together as one, they win trophies. At Simba, our leaders don't get along—everyone is pulling the other down," he said.

Julio's remarks have drawn sharply divided reactions from football supporters, analysts, and stakeholders.
