Chelsea have reached an agreement with Brighton to sign England international striker Danny Welbeck.
Welbeck has already agreed to personal terms with Chelsea and is set to sign a contract running until June 2028. The next step is to complete his medical before he is officially unveiled as a new Blues player.
Brighton have agreed to let the striker leave after Welbeck submitted a formal transfer request, paving the way for negotiations between all parties to be finalized.
Welbeck's arrival is said to be part of head coach Xabi Alonso's plan to add experience and competition to Chelsea's attacking lineup ahead of the 2026/27 season.
And it's not over yet... Chelsea are continuing their plans to strengthen the squad with more high-profile signings, with Jordan Henderson reportedly the next player expected to arrive at Stamford Bridge in the coming days.
