Simba SC's journey in the 2026 CECAFA Kagame Cup has officially come to an end after the group-stage results made it mathematically impossible for them to qualify for the semifinals.
The Msimbazi Reds have collected only two points from their first two matches, with one group game remaining against Singida Black Stars. Even if they win that match, they would finish with five points, which would still not be enough to secure a place among the best second-placed teams.
This is because Al Hilal and Rayon Sports have already reached six points, meaning Simba can no longer catch them in the race for a place in the next stage of the tournament.
The early elimination is a setback for Simba, who entered the competition aiming to use it as part of their preparations for the new season while also competing for the CECAFA Kagame Cup title.
Attention will now turn to their final group match against Singida Black Stars before the team returns home to continue preparations for the 2026/27 season and their domestic league and CAF competitions.
