Simba SC head coach Steve Barker has revealed his intention to continue using Elie Mpanzu as a central striker after changing his role from a winger.
Barker began deploying Mpanzu as a central forward towards the end of last season, and the player responded well to the new role.
After arriving in Rwanda recently, Barker once again used Mpanzu as a striker, bringing him on in the second half to replace new signing Ibrahim Doumbia.
Mpanzu scored Simba's second goal, securing a 2-1 victory for the Msimbazi giants against Singida Black Stars.
Simba's opening goal was scored by Doumbia, who officially opened his goal account since joining the club.
"Mpanzu has been doing well in the role of the final striker, and I think this is an area where we will continue to use him more," Barker said.
Simba have added Doumbia to the striking position, while the club's management awaits the final outcome regarding striker Suleiman Mwalimu. The process of signing him on loan stalled after Wydad AC's new management changed its plans and requested Mwalimu to return to Morocco before a final decision is made.
