Simba SC Chairman Murtaza Mangungu has said that all procedures for convening the club's Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) were followed in accordance with government directives and the club's constitution, while explaining what caused the delay in holding the meeting.
Mangungu stated that he is the legitimate chairman elected by Simba SC members and that any leadership changes within the club must be made by the members in line with the law and the club's established procedures.
"I am the Chairman of Simba SC, elected by the members. Any changes are made by Simba SC members, and there are legal requirements that must be followed before such changes can take place," said Mangungu.
Explaining the steps he took, Mangungu said he received a letter from the government and forwarded it to all board members through the Board Chairman before writing again to propose that the meeting be held on August 2.
"Later, I wrote another letter informing him that, in compliance with the government's directives, I expected to hold the meeting on August 2. He replied that on that date we were planning to hold a marathon," Mangungu said during an interview on Crown Sport Radio.
His remarks have fueled further debate over the leadership situation at Simba SC, with supporters waiting to see the next steps regarding the convening of the Extraordinary General Meeting and the future of the club's leadership.
