Barcelona have entered a crucial phase in their pursuit of Atlético Madrid striker Julián Álvarez, with sporting director Deco leading what could be the decisive negotiations before the transfer window closes.
According to reports from Spain, Deco has travelled to Madrid to meet Álvarez's agent, Fernando Hidalgo, to discuss the best strategy for completing the transfer.
The meeting is aimed at finding a way to convince Atlético Madrid to enter formal negotiations, despite the club's firm stance against selling the striker to one of their La Liga rivals.
Reports indicate that Barcelona are prepared to improve their initial offer, with the club's hierarchy believing Álvarez is the ideal long-term successor to lead the attack following Robert Lewandowski's departure.
Barcelona president Joan Laporta previously confirmed that the club had already submitted an official offer through Deco, but Atlético Madrid rejected the proposal and insisted that the Argentine forward is not for sale.
