Egyptian football star Mohamed Salah is in the final stages of completing a move to Turkish club Trabzonspor after both sides entered official transfer negotiations.
Trabzonspor have confirmed that they have opened talks to convince Salah to join the squad as a free agent following his departure from Liverpool at the end of last season.
According to club officials, the forward is expected to arrive in Istanbul for medical tests before travelling to Trabzon to complete the final procedures and sign his contract.
Reports from Turkey indicate that Salah is expected to sign a two year deal if all remaining steps are completed as planned.
The Egyptian star was previously linked with Besiktas and clubs from Saudi Arabia, but those negotiations failed to reach an agreement, allowing Trabzonspor to take the lead in the race for his signature.
If completed, the transfer would become one of the biggest signings in Trabzonspor history. The club finished third in the Turkish Super Lig last season and is preparing to compete in the UEFA Europa League qualifying rounds while aiming to increase competition against Galatasaray, Fenerbahce, and Besiktas.
Salah leaves Liverpool as one of the greatest players to have worn the club shirt. During his nine year spell, he scored 257 goals in 442 appearances and helped the Reds win major trophies, including the Premier League and UEFA Champions League.
He also earned numerous individual awards, including the Premier League Golden Boot and the Premier League Player of the Season award.
Trabzonspor supporters are now awaiting the club official announcement to confirm whether the Egyptian superstar will begin a new chapter of his football career in Turkey.
