Tanzania international midfielder Alphonse Mabula is reportedly on the verge of being officially unveiled as a new Yanga SC player during the Yanga Day festival at Uhuru Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
Mabula has been strongly linked with Yanga during the current transfer window, with reports indicating that an agreement for him to join the club had already been reached and that only the final formalities, including signing the contract, remained.
Mabula, Taifa Stars' No. 6
Mabula is one of the midfielders trusted in Tanzania's national team, Taifa Stars, where he primarily operates as a No. 6.
His ability to play as a defensive midfielder while also contributing to the build-up of attacks is regarded as one of the qualities that has made him an attractive player in this transfer window.
Mabula has nearly four seasons of experience in European football. Before joining Azerbaijan's Shamakhi in January 2025, the midfielder was part of Serbian club Spartak Subotica, whom he joined in February 2022 from Alliance FC.
He also spent the 2024/25 season on loan at RFK Novi Sad, giving him further experience in the competitive environment of European football.
His experience playing outside Tanzania, together with his role in the national team, is reportedly among the factors that attracted Yanga officials to pursue the midfielder.
