After concluding their respective Simba Day and Yanga Day celebrations, traditional rivals Simba and Yanga are heading to Zanzibar for the Community Shield showdown.
The match, which will mark the opening of the 2026/27 competitive season, will be played on Wednesday, August 12, at 2:30 p.m. at New Amaan Complex.
Simba have already arrived in Zanzibar to complete their preparations for the match, while their rivals Yanga are also expected to travel to the islands today.
Simba concluded their festival two days ago with a 1-0 defeat to Kenya's Police FC, while Yanga also suffered a 2-1 loss to Les Aigles du Congo yesterday.
It is clear that both coaches, Steve Barker of Simba and Manqoba Mngqithi of Yanga, placed greater emphasis on the Community Shield than on their respective friendly matches during the club festivals.
The encounter promises to be highly competitive and should provide an early indication of what to expect from both teams this season.
Simba return to New Amaan Complex with fond memories of their victory over Yanga in the Mapinduzi Cup final played at the same venue on April 29 this year.
