Tanzania Mainland Premier League champions Yanga SC have stunned the transfer market this morning after completing the signing of striker Selemani Mwalimu, popularly known as ‘Gomez’.
The deal, which was secretly orchestrated in Zanzibar by the club’s president, Engineer Hersi Said, has come as a major surprise to football fans across the country, considering that the player had been on the verge of joining their rivals, Simba SC, where he spent last season on loan.
Mwalimu joins Yanga on a one-year loan deal from Moroccan club Wydad AC.
Just two days ago, Simba unveiled Mwalimu during the club’s SIMBA DAY celebrations, and he travelled to Zanzibar to join the team ahead of the Community Shield clash between the two sides.
