Yanga SC head coach Manqoba Mngqithi has entered the club's history after becoming one of the coaches to win a trophy in his first competitive match in charge, following Yanga's triumph in the Community Shield.
Mngqithi achieved the feat after guiding Yanga to a 1-0 victory over Simba SC in the match played in Zanzibar. The South African coach defeated his compatriot Steve Barker, who is in charge of Simba, to claim his first trophy with Yanga.
This is not the first time the Community Shield has brought together two South African coaches. In the 2025/26 season, South African coaches Fadlu Davids of Simba and Folz of Yanga faced each other in the Community Shield, with Folz's Yanga securing the trophy after a 1-0 victory.
