Veteran midfielder and former Taifa Stars star Jonas Gerard Mkude has officially returned to competitive football after signing a one-year contract with Kigoma-based club Mashujaa FC.
Mkude joins the club as a free agent from Dar es Salaam, having been out of action for a season since leaving Yanga.
The move marks a significant milestone in his career, as it will be the first time the midfielder has played competitive football outside Dar es Salaam.
Mkude spent around a decade with Simba SC and also represented Yanga SC before deciding to take a break from football. He has now moved to Kigoma in search of a new challenge with Mashujaa FC this season.
His arrival is expected to add stability, experience and leadership to Mashujaa's midfield as they prepare for the 2026/27 NBC Premier League campaign.
His experience of playing in major international matches and dealing with the pressure of high-level competition is expected to be a major asset as the club targets a strong finish this season.
Football fans in Kigoma have welcomed the signing with great excitement, believing the midfielder's presence will bring renewed enthusiasm to Lake Tanganyika Stadium.
