Yanga SC head coach Manqoba Mngqithi expects Namungo FC to play with confidence and adopt a defensive approach when the two sides meet in the opening match of the 2026/27 Tanzania Mainland Premier League season.
Yanga will face Namungo on August 15, 2026, at Majaliwa Stadium in Lindi, with Mngqithi acknowledging the quality of Namungo's head coach, whom he knows well from his time coaching at national-team level.
Mngqithi said Yanga will not rely on weaknesses in their opponents' game but will instead use the quality of their squad to create scoring opportunities and push for victory.
The coach stressed that Yanga must remain patient and use their technical ability to break down Namungo's defence, acknowledging that the opening fixture could be challenging despite Yanga's strong record in previous meetings between the two teams.
The match will mark Yanga's first game in their campaign to defend the Tanzania Mainland Premier League title, while Namungo will be aiming to start the new season with a positive result against the defending champions.
