Dodoma Jiji attacking midfielder Berno Ngassa has made history after becoming the first player to score in the 2026/27 NBC Premier League season.
Ngassa entered the record books by scoring the opening goal of the season in the opening match against Pamba Jiji at CCM Kirumba Stadium in Mwanza.
The midfielder needed just 17 minutes to open the scoring, putting Dodoma Jiji 1-0 ahead of hosts Pamba Jiji.
However, Dodoma Jiji's lead did not last long. Pamba Jiji responded in the 24th minute through Degratius Mafie to level the match.
The 90 minutes ended with the two sides unable to be separated, with each team scoring once and sharing the points after a 1-1 draw.
Ngassa's goal was the first scored in the 2026/27 NBC Premier League season, allowing the Dodoma Jiji star to begin the campaign with a record that could remain in the league's history.
For Dodoma Jiji, an away point could prove to be a positive start to their campaign, while Pamba Jiji have also opened their season in front of their home supporters by earning a point.
