Simba SC's efforts to sign Azam FC attacking midfielder Feisal Salum "Fei Toto" appear to be facing major obstacles, with legal and financial factors making the deal increasingly difficult to complete during the current transfer window.
With the transfer window scheduled to close today, Saturday, August 15, at 11:59 p.m., Simba are still pushing to secure the signature of the "Zanzibar Finest" despite the challenges surrounding the potential move.
Reliable reports indicate that Simba have prepared more than TSh 3 billion for the player and have already reached a personal agreement with Fei Toto regarding his proposed salary and other benefits.
However, Fei Toto's contract with Azam FC contains a significant release clause. Reports suggest that any club seeking to sign the midfielder must currently put approximately TSh 7 billion on the table. That figure is separate from the player's personal terms.
Azam FC's management has also maintained its position that it does not want to sell the player to one of their closest domestic rivals. The club considers Fei Toto a key part of its squad and is unwilling to lose him for an ordinary offer below the amount stipulated in his contract.
Nevertheless, significant efforts are reportedly underway, including attempts by influential figures within the government to persuade Azam FC to accept the fee Simba have prepared for the player's transfer.
So far, nothing has changed, with Fei Toto remaining in Arusha with the Azam FC squad, which will later today play its opening Premier League match of the season against Polisi Tanzania.
However, with only a few hours remaining before the transfer window closes, it remains a case of anything could happen.
