The President of Zanzibar, Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, has urged citizens to make good use of the opportunities that will arise from the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which is expected to be hosted next year by Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda.
President Mwinyi made the remarks during a visit to inspect the progress of the construction of Fumba Stadium, located in Magharibi B District, Unguja.
The stadium is among the venues expected to be used during the tournament on the Tanzanian side. H
e emphasized the importance of citizens, businesspeople, and various stakeholders taking advantage of the opportunity to benefit economically, while also promoting Zanzibar and Tanzania as a whole through the arrival of visitors from different countries.
AFCON 2027 is expected to create significant opportunities across various sectors, including tourism, trade, transportation, accommodation services, and employment.
Football stakeholders in Zanzibar have also expressed their expectations about how the tournament could benefit the islands.
