Manchester United are reportedly in the final stages of completing the signing of Cameroon midfielder Carlos Baleba from Brighton & Hove Albion, with negotiations between the two clubs progressing significantly.
United have submitted an offer worth around £60 million plus £5 million in add-ons, although the figure remains below Brighton’s valuation of the midfielder.
The 22-year-old Baleba is expected to travel to Manchester for a medical, with a five-year contract being prepared once the final agreement between the clubs is reached. The player is currently recovering from an ankle injury.
Baleba’s potential arrival comes as Manchester United continue to strengthen their midfield during the current transfer window. The club have already added midfielders Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans, while Baleba’s signing would provide further competition and physicality in the position.
If the deal is completed, Baleba would become one of United’s key additions ahead of the new season as the club look to build a stronger and more competitive midfield.
