Burundian winger Jean Claude Girumugisha has revealed the reasons behind the collapse of negotiations over a potential move to Yanga SC, despite being ready to join the Tanzanian giants.
Girumugisha, who recently joined Libya’s Al Ahli Tripoli for a reported fee of $5.5 million, said Yanga had shown strong interest in signing him and that he was personally willing to move to Tanzania.
Speaking about the failed transfer, Girumugisha said he was impressed by the respect shown to him by Yanga officials during the negotiations, but an agreement between the two clubs proved to be the main obstacle.
“It is true that Yanga wanted me and I was ready to go. I was very impressed by the way their officials respected me and how they met with me. The problem came down to the interests of the two clubs,” Girumugisha said.
The player stressed that the failed move was not due to him or Yanga, but rather the two clubs' inability to reach an agreement over the terms of the transfer.
Girumugisha added that he remains open to the possibility of joining Yanga in the future, saying he was impressed by the way the club's officials handled their communication with him during the negotiations.
